GLP-1s + Coaching: Why Both Matter

June 24, 2025
In recent years, GLP-1 medications—such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro—have sparked a major shift in how we approach weight loss, blood sugar management, and metabolic health. For many people, these medications are providing long-awaited results and new hope. But here’s the reality:

GLP-1s can support change, but they do not create lasting transformation on their own.

As a nurse and wellness coach, I work with clients who are currently using, considering, or weaning off GLP-1 medications. What I see time and again is this: the greatest long-term success comes when medication is paired with mindset work, sustainable habits, and personalized support.

Let’s break this down.

What Are GLP-1s?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists work by mimicking a natural hormone in the body that helps regulate appetite, blood sugar, and digestion. These medications can lead to reduced hunger, improved insulin sensitivity, and significant weight loss.

But while the physical impact is real, there’s a deeper story when it comes to long-term health.

Why Coaching Still Matters

1. Medication Doesn't Address the Mindset
Weight and wellness are not just physical issues—they’re emotional, mental, and often deeply rooted in years (or decades) of patterns. Emotional eating, body image struggles, stress, trauma, and beliefs around food and worthiness don’t disappear with a smaller appetite. Coaching helps unpack those layers with compassion and clarity.

2. You Still Need Habits to Sustain Change
GLP-1s may help you eat less, but what you eat, how you move, and how you manage your sleep and stress still matter deeply. Coaching helps you rebuild those habits in realistic, sustainable ways—on your terms.

3. Behavior Change is Hard—Support Makes It Easier
Lasting change doesn’t come from willpower alone. It comes from accountability, strategy, self-trust, and encouragement. As your coach, I walk beside you—not to tell you what to do, but to help you figure out what works for you and hold you to the vision you’ve set.

4. Planning for Life After Medication
Many people see great success on GLP-1s—until they stop taking them. Without a solid foundation of mindset and habits, weight regain is common. Coaching helps bridge the gap, ensuring the transformation isn’t just physical or temporary, but whole-person and lasting.

The Bottom Line

GLP-1 medications can be an incredible tool—but they are just one piece of the puzzle. Coaching fills the gap between medication and meaningful, lasting wellness.

If you're currently on a GLP-1, exploring it, or even stepping away from it, consider working with a coach who can help you build the skills and self-trust needed to thrive—on or off the medication.

You don’t have to choose between science and self-growth. You deserve both.

Say YES to YOU—because lasting health is about more than a prescription. It’s about becoming the version of you that feels energized, aligned, and truly well.
